After 20 years of racing Sean decided it was time to turn his hand to something else. In his final year of racing, Sean began to concentrate on engine building and the business has rapidly grown in just 3 years.
Today Sean Wilson Racing are the sole suppliers of Tornado Racing Components and CP Pistons.
Riders such as Gary Havelock, Lee Complin and Kyle Legault are now successfully riding SWR tuned Tornado engines within speedway.
Here is what Gary Havelock had to say:-
I have known Sean for many years and he has always been very interested in the workings of Speedway engines. In the last few years that he raced he became more and more interested and started to look after his own engines in conjunction with the famed German tuner Anton Nischler. It was around this time that Sean and I began to have many discussions regarding certain things that make a fast and reliable engine. Sean started to look after all my engines in 2005 and, after his retirement from racing he has really come into his own in his chosen field. We talk nearly every day and Sean is constantly coming up with new ideas about how to make the engines faster, and as the SWR factory pilot I usually get to try them out first, which is really exciting.
In this sport that I have been in for over 20 years you meet a lot of big time “TUNERS” who are only interested in doing a good job for the top guys and then making huge amounts of money. But unlike these people Sean is genuinely interested in the engines which is borne out by the number of younger riders that he helps.
In my team, the Redcar Bears, you only need to look at the progress of many youngsters to know that Sean is doing the same job for everyone from the Top guys down to the young guys.
